One day, I (Debbie) arrived home from my annual mammogram appointment in some discomfort and pain. My son Troy did not understand why I was uncomfortable, so I described the painful mammogram ‘pancake’ process. He asked if the hospital offered me an ice or heat pack to help relieve the pain - I said no. From his perspective, as a college baseball player studying biomedical engineering, he would use heating and cooling therapeutic pads for his knees & shoulders, so he assumed there was an equivalent therapeutic gel-pack for breasts. Unfortunately after all our research, we did not find a product that would help relieve breast pain.
